I hate professional commentators.  Every week last year, I remember how frustrating it felt to have the commentators say how the Packers hot streak would come to an end, and how satisfying it felt each Sunday when they were wrong.  I remember how the Packers were supposed to get blown out by the Cowgirls.  Brett Favre played his worst game of the year, and our backup brought us within one possession in the fourth quarter.  If the T.O. "forward progress" call had not been total bullshit, the Packers win that game with a backup QB and two other pro-bowlers not dressed.

Brett Favre retired, and this year will be a whole new year.  However, the thing that made Favre the greatest QB ever was his ability to play in every game for 16 years.  It's the statistic that is always overlooked when talking about the best ever.  But it's also a statistic that is always ignored when rating teams.  Which is why it makes no sense that the Packers, after losing the NFC Championship, are now being rated outside of the top 10 teams in the league because Brett Favre retired.  Do people really think the dropoff from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers (one position on the whole team and to a player who many thought would be the number one pick in his respective draft) will make 6 whole teams better.  Brett Favre alone got us from being the last wildcard team in the NFC to a home game in the NFC Championship?  Are these people retarded?

Being a fan of a team so horribly underrated is one of the most frustrating things about sports, and it's also one of the most fulfilling.  Here are the teams that are currently being ranked as the top 16 on NFL.com:

1. New England; 2. Indianapolis; 3. Dallas; 4. New York Giants; 5. Jacksonville; 6. San Diego; 7. Pittsburgh; 8. Seattle; 9. Philadelphia; 10. Cleveland; 11. Green Bay; 12. New Orleans; 13. Tampa Bay; 14. Tennessee; 15. Denver; 16. Washington

Here's mine.  If I'm wrong, correct me in your own post.

1. Colts; 2. Jaguars; 3. Patriots; 4. Packers; 5. Browns; 6. Eagles; 7. Chargers; 8. Seahawks; 9. Cowboys; 10. Redskins; 11. Steelers; 12. Saints; 13. Giants; 14. Buccaneers; 15. Titans; 16. Panthers

The teams won't end up this way, because of the difficulty in some of their schedules, but this is how they rank in talent.  When any of these teams play this year, just watch how the games turn out.  I'll be right more often than they will be.

I cannot believe you, Owen, you left out the Detroit Lions.  As a fellow NFCer, I guess you too are scared to see the rug pulled out from under you (potentially).  Get with the program Madden!

UPDATE

Well, it turns out that the commentators who continued to discuss this bracket of theirs agree with me in some aspects.  First, neither of them chose the Patriots to make the final 2.  They picked the Jaguars over the Patriots and the Colts over the Chargers in the Final Four.  I'm still not sure how the Chargers are considered one of the top 4 teams in the NFL in terms of talent.  They are far too inconsistent, and they are unproven.  Being there to benefit when the Colts melt down in the playoffs does not make them a top 4 team.  The Colts melt down every year in the playoffs (except one).  Just because a team plays in the AFC does not make them a better team.  Expecially the Chargers, who play in a division where every other team is in the bottom half of the league.  Also, the Giants were the only NFC team to make the final 8.  That's total crap, seeing as how the NFC actually won the AFC-NFC matchups last year, and the NFC won the Super Bowl.

I agree that commentators are morons and I wish they would just shut up. What ever happened to just being announcers, just report what you see and keep your opinion to yourself. Everyone of them talks like they just know exactly what is gonna come of the season and they are always wrong except in a few cases when luck catches up to them, if they had such a deep understanding and could see a depth into the game that no one else could they would be gamblers and wouldn't need to work for ESPN or fox-sports or any other sports network. Who is watching these shows where idiots just sit there and argue with each other for the whole show. It pisses me off when I want to just see some highlights or get scores and these wind bags are on.  no one knows what is gonna happen, that's what makes it fun to watch, sure the Lions could have a great year and make it to the playoffs and even by some far stretch, it is possible they could win the Superbowl, Arizona could, anyone could. There wasn't a single commentator last year that said half way through that the Giants were gonna win it, not even when the game had arrived did anyone take the Giants. The packers could go 14-2 next year or they could go 2-14, who knows. I know there are factors that teams have and things they do to better themselves through buying better players and some teams have what some would refer to as an easy schedule but if these factors made all the difference than the New York Yankees would win the world series every year. Buying your way to a better team works sometimes, it worked for the red sox and is working so far for the Celtics but it doesn't always, you never know, no-one knows what is gonna happen, all they can claim to be sure of is what already happened.
